Berlin
Nuremberg
We picked Nuremburg with very little understanding of what this place was like. All we knew about it was the trials. This is probably our favourite medium sized city of Germany now and would defintely go back. There’s so much great history here that goes way back. The museum had some excellent prehistoric and medieval collections as well. Although we didn’t particularly like the food of Germany, this town offered the best sausges (the big Nuremburg Sausage being the best).
Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Seehausen am Staffelsee
We party drove the Romantic Road through to Fussen via a couple towns after much stress trying to get our rental car (turns out the pickup location became a vacant lot without the rental agency telling us). Our favourite stop through was definitely Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Red castle above the Tauber [river]). It defintely lived up to its christmas fairytale style. I think it would be ideal to visit again during christmas.
Seehausen am Staffelsee was on our way back from Schwangua to Munich. It was not really planned, but after seeing the beautiful lakes of Fussen, we had to see more. This big lake was conviently on the road back to Munich and turns out to be a popular camping area for good reason. It was stunning, especially when the sun finally came out.
FĂĽssen and Schwangau
Munich
We drove up to Munich stopping in at Seehausen am Staffelsee.
We flew out of Munich and back to Greece to visit Thessaloniki for a few days.
